Naked and Famous

I went to a show at THE DELANCEY this past October during CMJ. It was a New Zealand showcase. BANG! BANG! ECHE! was playing and since I had become friends with their management they put me on their guestlist. THE NAKED AND FAMOUS went on before them and they were awesome. I wasn’t familiar with them at all but I’m glad I made it down early for their set. It was worth it. They put on an amazing show. If you get a chance to see them, go. They made it into my Top Ten Live Shows of ‘08 post on SUNDTRAK.

Little Pictures do Weezer.

This is so cool. Mark, from Little Pictures just posted a cover they did of Buddy Holly by Weezer. It is awesome. If you love it, and I know you will, then you should get their CD Owl + Owl.

White Christmas Extravaganza!

Photobucket

It snowed in New York yesterday and it was a White Christmas at Santos last night thanks to Mr Patrick Duffy, Andrew Buckler, GMHC and many more. The night was speckled with performances and appearances from Lady Bunny, Jasper James, Michele Balan, Angelique Ali, Sequinette and Pixie Harlots. Acroback performed suspended from the ceiling and Deborah fucking Harry sang a few Blondie hits, including The Tide Is High and Dreaming before being joined by a full Choir to sing Christmas songs.

ASTRONAUTALIS

Thanks to my good friend Liz, aka El Dangeroso, I am now aware of Astronautalis.

American Gothic meets Hip-Hop. Astronautalis is a masterful storyteller and rapper and I believe every word that comes out of his mouth. His tracks are so vivid and heavy that new elements emerge with each listen. Buy his new ablum Pomegranate.
I will do a full post on Sundtrak within a couple of days so check over there to preview more tracks.

WE’VE MOVED!

It’s True. Santos Party House has officially moved locations. We are no longer located at 100 Lafayette Street. Due to our ongoing expansion, we’re now located 2 doors down (approximately 8 feet), at 96 Lafayette Street. Fortunately, we have been able to recreate the exact same club, only 8 feet further down the block, simply by shifting the walls and parts of the ceiling to accommodate the new location.
Our patrons will notice a slight shift in the sidewalk, as well as a wider stairway leading down to the lower level. As a result of this move, we now have a larger amount of space on the left side corridor of the club. We were also able to shift the entire front entrance and windows of our building, leaving the upper portion intact. If you look closely, you’ll be able to see the distance between the previous location and the new one.

We’ve made a new logo for our address, to replace the no longer accurate, 100 Lafayette logo. Special thanks to Andrew Strasser.

It’s All Good

Lykke Li – I’m Good, I’m Gone

It was only a matter of time before MTV and the masses sucked up Lykke Li. But can you blame them? She’s wayyy cool [with 3 y's]. Have you noticed the amount of remixes out there? Between her and MGMT I don’t think I can find a trash bin big enough to throw them in to, cause let’s face it, a lot of it is crap.

So, instead of contributing to the trash pile, I’ve decided to post two covers. I like them. You could probably argue that Friendly Fires and The Kooks covered these tracks to piggyback on the buzz and you would probably be right. Who cares.

I Get_In The Club

A few tracks I’ve been meaning to post. The first is a track by Savoir Adore – a friend who knows the band sent it along. It’s called The Cave of Good Secrets. If you like it you can buy their album HERE. The last two tracks are from down under. I Get_In The Club by Gamegirl/Gameboy [their video for Sweaty Wet/Dirty Damp is linked above] and Magic by Ladyhawke.
